On December 1, more or less 80 students of Sekolah Tinggi Manajemen Transportasi (STMT/Transportation Management College) Trisakti Jakarta participated in a lecture onboard Ciliwung train set, a fully air-conditioned electric multiple unit (EMU) which served the Manggarai-Tanah Abang-Kampung Bandan-Pasar Senen-Jatinegara-Manggarai line. It was the idea of Himpunan Mahasiswa Darat STMT Trisakti in cooperation with Indonesian State Railway (PT Kereta Api) 1st/Jakarta Operational Area, IRPS, PT Railink and KRL Mania (EMU fans).

 

Akhmad Sujadi, the Chief of Public Relations of 1st/Jakarta Operational Area of Indonesian State Railway, said that the teaching-learning process onboard a train marked a milestone in the history of Indonesian railway. Ciliwung trainset departed from Manggarai Station at 9:20 AM, carrying the students, coordinators and journalists.

 

Taking place on the first and second passenger cars, the lecture was initiated by Akhmad Sujadi, an academic advisor and a representative of office of transportation. There were three guest speakers in the lecture, i.e Chief Operational Officer of Jakarta Railway Division Achmad Marzuki, President-Director of PT Railink Masjraul Hidayat, Anthony Landjar of KRL Mania and Untung Rustadi of IRPS. Acting as a moderator was Aditya Dwi Laksana of IRPS.

 

 

Achmad Marzuki presented the condition of Jakarta Railway Division, including its present limitations and future developments. Masjraul presented business opportunities in Indonesian railway as supported by Act No. 27 of 2007. Anthony conveyed supportive ideas from the passengers of EMUs. There were several questions asked in the next session. Most of them were about facilities, services, and passengers behaviours.

 

After this session, Untung Rustadi of IRPS presented the topic of joyriding onboard EMUs.The train arrived at Manggarai Station at 11:51 AM, thus ended the lecture onboard it.
